I grabbed for my Book of Shadows this night and decided to a rather bold look.

5.14.09 - Zoya

So thanks to Scrangie's wonderful post of Zoya's latest TweetBuy, I was able to pick up the full set of their Color Lock System for $48 and recieve their Oh-la-la and La-di-da collections FREE!!! They will arrive tomorrow (Friday) and I can't wait!!! I am going to try them out ASAP, with the CLS and see how they do. Yippie! After that, I just might have to participate in their Nail Polish Exchange. Now through June 1, you can send in a minimum of 6 old polishes (any brand but Zoya) and they will send you your choice of over 300 of their polishes, bottle-for-bottle for only $3/each (shipping and processing). These polishes are regularly $6/ea so you basically get them for 1/2 off! (I assume you have to pay for shipping to them, but hopefully it won't be too bad.) I have quite a few of Sally Hansen bottles just sitting around so I will send those off... I'm going through the Zoya polishes now so I can see what I might want... though I'm not sure how many SH's I have. :o)

5.11.09 - LUSH UK Haul

Yippie!!! I ordered early on a Friday and received today, Monday, 6 business days, later.

I did not make any "special requests" and none of the bubble bars were not individually wrapped and a few bath ballistics were not either, the rest were in the yellow bag you put them in at the store. Thankfully, nothing was broken or leaking, so I was happy... though, very sadly, I received no samples. :'o( I ended up taking the box outside to open, too messy!

5.7.09 - LUSH UK

So, it's not here yet, but I'm scared... According to a bunch of posts on LifeJournal, people were saying you should tell them you want things wrapped in plastic and taped up. WHA?! They don't automatically assume that since I'm in the US?! I hope to GOD that they would do that for such a large order. I didn't order too many liquids, but I will be so devastated if ANYTHING is "out of place". *Sigh* Did I screw up??? :'-( I really don't need anymore stress.

Oh, my status still says pending, but apparently that's common and it could be here tomorrow (5 working days).

5.7.09 - My Wishlist

So, a few of these items are pretty accessible and practical, but the 2 "big ticket" items are well just that, pricy. *Sigh* But if I ever become a Freelance MUA, I will NEED those. :o)

In no particular order:

1. MAC A Rose Romance Quad - $38
2. MAC 168 Large Angled Contour Brush - $32
3. MAC 225 Large Tapered Blending Brush - $29 if you trust eBay...
4. MAC Brush Roll - $45 (DF said I could order it, so I did with Free shipping. :-D)
5. MAC Makeup Tool Belt - $39
6. ZÜCA for MAC Pro Bag - $279
7. Bobbi Brown BBU Palette - $250
8. Benefit Girl's Night In Kit - $38
9. By Lauren Luke: My Vintage Glams - $32.50
10. By Lauren Luke: My Sultry Blues - $32.50
11. By Lauren Luke: My Luscious Greens - $32.50

5.7.09 - Plugged-In Pink Mini Diamond Flat Iron: A Review

I picked this up from Sally's Online, a couple weeks go, when they emailed me an offer to get it for $10! I had to pay about $7 for shipping, but what-the-hey, I figured I'd try it, along with these.

It's a tiny little guy, that's for sure! It just has an on/off switch and no swivel cord, but I find it heats up fast, gets hot and does the job I figured it would do. Now, my hair isn't super curly, coarse or thick, but I do have quite a bit of it. On "easy" days I like to dry my hair with a vent brush and blow dryer and sleep on it, get up, flat-iron. I don't curl it under or flip it out, when it's this length, but I am certain that could be done with this 'lil booger. I tried it out, with success, upon arrival.

Today, I was uber-lazy and quickly dried my hair before bed with plans to get up and flat iron. Well, time escaped me, okay, so I was too lazy to get out of bed. I packed this up with a couple combs, a clip, scrunchie and a mirror, into my lunch box, hehe. No one is at work while I am, so I popped into the bathroom and plugged it in. I let it heat up while I got my nightly mug of water. I got back a couple minutes later and started my hair. It does take smaller sections, hello, the plate is A LOT smaller, but don't take too small, especially with fine hair or it might pull, even though I'm not sure where it gets caught up. Anyways, it took me dead-on, 20 minutes. I swear, it takes that long with my 1" CHI. Heck, it takes me 20 minutes to blow out my hair with a round brush, almost that long with a vent brush. Even my make-up takes 20 minutes!

So yea, this is FOR SURE going in my bag for my Honeymoon in Vegas! 5 Weeks! Eek! I really ought to start a list of what to pack... but hair tools will only include this and my 1 1/4" curling iron. :o) Thank heavens for Hotels having Hair Dryers! At least the Hotel better have one!!! I know they used to and it was a pretty good one, but I read that from a post a couple of years ago. Anyone know if the MGM Signature still have Hair Dryers in the rooms????

5.2.09 - LUSH UK

I'm so ecstatic over this, I HAVE to blog about it!!!

For our wedding "party" gifts, we decided to get the girls all stuff from LUSH. My mom had the idea, so I figured it'd work. I kinda hate giving bath stuff, however since LUSH really isn't around here (almost 3hrs to the nearest store) I figured it was something unique. I use the term "party" loosely because we are only having 1 couple stand up with us, but many helping on favors, decorations & anything else we might need.

Thankfully I had the opportunity to have been subscribed to a YouTube channel where a girl posted a video that she ordered soaps from LUSH UK... I thought this was a little weird, I mean, if we can order from the US, why order from the UK where you surely have to pay more for shipping.

I did some research, after all I had 13 girls/women to buy for!!! I wanted to keep it around $20/ea, or a little more for our moms.

I can not friggin believe how much I saved!!! Yes, I spent A LOT, but compared to the US site, a lot of things on the UK site (depending on the current exchange rate, which seems to be about £1 = $1.49) are the same price but most are a lot less. BUT WAIT! The site prices include the VAT, which we don't have to pay. For example, Smitten Hand Cream is £5.82 on the UK Site, without the VAT is £5.06, or $7.54! It's $17.65 on the US site!

Shipping will run you a little more, but with what you save, it's amazing! Here's LUSH UK's international shipping chart.

I paid £44 in shipping... that just shows you how much I really got! My order total was £228.16 or $340.16. Plus, my Credit Card company might charge me a conversion fee. I will have to see what that is in a few days.

I went on the US site, just to show you... And even with the 15% off code (GIFTFORYOU09)...

Subtotal: $489.70
Discount: $73.45
Shipping (GNDRES): $24.65

Total: $440.90 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I SAVED $100 by ordering off the UK Site!!! (And they didn't even have the 3 Sugar Scrubs I ordered. Also, you can only get a maximum of 3 free massage bar tins from the US, and I needed 10. The UK gave me 7 for the 14 bars I ordered!)

I don't need the stuff for 6 weeks (EEK!) but I went ahead and ordered, though the UK Site is rumored to be very fast. The US Site said it could take up to 15 Business Days depending on order volume. I just read on the above shipping price list, that it takes 5-7 Working Days... Holy crap, even that's probably faster. I know my 1st LUSH order last Fall took a while, but the one mid-Winter didn't take too terribly long.

Anyways, I'm ecstatic and can't wait. I even picked up a few goodies for me, hehe. Shhh...
